Not strictly pertaining to my dissertation, A Long Petal Of the Sea by Isabel Allende was one of the books that I picked up to get back to my non-academic reading hobby that I had lost for a few years as I progressed with my Ph.D. endeavors. Sunny, wintry afternoons were spent on the roof with my books and sunglasses as my washed hair dried.
